Low Carbon Chinatown is a project that promotes Asian culture and responds to the global climate crisis by developing Asian cuisine that uses ingredients and recipes with a low carbon footprint.

It provides a space for communities from various cultures to come together and interact through the enjoyable activity of cooking and eating.

Chefs and food writers have participated to develop low-carbon recipes and data scientists have participated to calculate the carbon footprint of the ingredients used.

Videos demonstrating the low-carbon recipes have been produced and posted online to allow people at home to try them out themselves, and the low-carbon Asian dishes are introduced to the public through offline pop-up events.

The staging of the pop-up structure uses eco-friendly materials such as bamboo and other recycled materials and is easy to install and transport, so can be used again when hosting new events at other locations.

Low Carbon Chinatown is a project where food culture, data science and design come together to revitalize the Asian community and provide inspiration for solving environmental problems.
