About Project

VORTEX is a climate technology solution designed to provide clean, reliable, and decentralized renewable energy for coastal, off-grid, and disaster-prone communities. The project addresses the growing challenges of energy insecurity, climate change, and plastic waste pollution by utilizing a vertical-axis wind turbine design that can operate in low-wind environments while incorporating recycled plastic materials into its construction. The project connects technology and resource circulation into a single product system by designing the structure and materials of the energy production device to match local environmental conditions.

Developed by Klimatech Innovative Solutions Inc., VORTEX promotes sustainable daily living by enabling communities, businesses, and public spaces to access renewable energy while reducing dependence on fossil fuels and vulnerable grid infrastructure. The solution is designed to coexist with existing energy systems, improving resilience during power disruptions and extreme weather events.

Beyond energy generation, VORTEX contributes to environmental sustainability through circular economy principles, encouraging the recovery and productive use of plastic waste. The project also supports local economic development by creating opportunities for green jobs, community engagement, and sustainable infrastructure deployment. A key feature is that by reconnecting waste back into the product production process, energy production and resource circulation operate within a single structure.

By integrating renewable energy, resource circularity, and climate resilience, VORTEX demonstrates how innovative design can create harmony between people, society, and the environment while contributing to a more sustainable and resilient future.

VORTEX reimagines renewable energy through a compact helical vertical-axis wind turbine optimized for low-wind and coastal environments where conventional turbines are often ineffective. The helical form improves wind capture from multiple directions while enhancing stability during strong winds. Through forms responding to wind direction and local environments, the energy production function is directly linked to the product's structure. To address both energy access and public safety, Klimatech developed the VORTEX Candlelight, a hybrid wind-powered lighting system inspired by the shape of a candle flame, symbolizing hope, guidance, and resilience during power outages and disasters. It combines a functional energy facility with a symbolic form, expanding it into lighting facilities used in public spaces. The design incorporates recycled plastic waste into turbine components, transforming pollution into clean energy infrastructure while supporting circular economy principles.

VORTEX improves sustainability in daily life by providing clean, reliable energy for communities vulnerable to power interruptions, rising electricity costs, and climate-related disasters. By utilizing recycled plastic waste in its design, the project promotes responsible resource use and circular economy practices. The VORTEX Candlelight further enhances public safety by providing renewable-powered lighting for streets, walkways, and public spaces. Together, these solutions contribute to reduced carbon emissions, increased climate resilience, greener livelihoods, and greater community awareness of renewable energy and environmental stewardship.

VORTEX presents a scalable vision for climate-resilient and circular infrastructure worldwide. Its modular design can be adapted for coastal, urban, rural, and disaster-prone communities facing energy insecurity and environmental challenges. The scalability is enhanced by configuring it as a system whose application range can vary depending on the installation environment and needs, rather than a single fixed facility. By combining renewable energy, recycled materials, and smart technologies such as Salba.ai, VORTEX offers a globally replicable model for sustainable, community-centered development.
